Our Doctors
Dr. Raisbeck
Dr. Raisbeck has
joined the Lake Geneva Animal Hospital. She is a 2002 graduate of the
University of Wisconsin - Madison and formerly worked at a mixed animal practice
south of Madison. Dr. Raisbeck is especially interested in veterinary nutrition
and alternative medicine. She is one of only a few certified veterinary
acupuncturists in the state of Wisconsin and now offers these services at Lake
Geneva Animal Hospital. She has successfully incorporated acupuncture and
herbal remedies to the treatment of animals in her care. She brings an upbeat
attitude and enthusiasm that clients and pets enjoy.
Dr. Welch
We are pleased to announce
the addition of Dr. Christopher Welch to the team at Lake Geneva Animal
Hospital. Dr. Welch is a graduate of University of Illinois. He has
a special interest in oncology (cancer) surgery and chemotherapy. We now
have the ability to treat many cancers without the inconvenience and cost of
referring to a university. Dr. Welch provides the most current treatment
protocols including prognosis and cost. These chemotherapy protocols are
much easier on the pet than in previous years (they do not result in hair loss)
and so have become good options for many animals bringing added time with good
quality of life. Dr. Welch also shares a strong interest in orthopedic
surgery and care.
Dr. Welch also brings a
compassionate and friendly manner along with exceptional diagnostic and surgical
skills.
Dr. Scot Hodkiewicz
Dr. Scot earned his
veterinary degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1993,
finishing top in his class. After
college, he and Dr. Mona were married and began practicing at a mixed animal
practice in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. His
interests include orthopedic surgery,
laprascopic/arthroscopic surgery including spays, stomach-tacking to prevent
Gastric Dilation-Volvulus (GDV), bladder stone removal, Osteochondrosis Desicans
(OCD) surgery and
ultrasonography . “I have fixed
bones on everything from 6 weeks old puppies to 200# calves.
I enjoy the challenge of surgery and the satisfaction of
seeing animals that came in battered and broken, chasing a frisbee a few
months later.”
We have added a
state-of-the-art ultrasound unit in November that has raised the level of care
that we can provide. Dr. Scot
developed an interest in ultrasonography during veterinary school and was
published in a study using ultrasound for umbilical problems.
“The ultrasound allows us to look inside the abdomen where, in the
past, surgery would have had to be performed.
We can also see how the heart is working (echocardiography) and measure
chamber size and contractions.”
Dr. Mona Hodkiewicz
Dr.
Mona graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1994 earning
awards for outstanding technical skills. She
also worked in Wisconsin Dells, WI. Her
special interests include preventative and internal medicine.
She performs many of the technical procedures that require a sensitive
touch such as biopsies and bone marrow aspirates.
She brings a smile and a happy face to every client and animal.
